With My Eyes
Holy See Pavilion, La Biennale di Venezia, Venice, Italy
Curated by Chiara Parisi and Bruno Racine
With My Eyes at the Holy See Pavilion is presented at Giudecca, the women's detention center in Venice, and will feature an installation of work by Sonia Gomes. The pavilion, staged by a collective of artists, is a transformative space for personal encounters, encouraging a deeper understanding of the word “care” and its relationship with art. Here, art manifests itself through tangible gestures and shared visions that, even if just for a limited moment, live and exist in a timeless moment. The pavilion will challenge the desire for voyeurism and judgment towards artists and detainees, eroding the boundaries between observer and observed, judge and judged, and reflecting on power structures in art and institutions. This artistic collaboration opens a unique field of political and artistic inquiry, exploring spaces and people in a different light.
Conversations curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist will enrich the Pavilion's project with diverse stories in a poetic tapestry.
