Dave Muller

Sprawling

November 16 – December 21, 2002
Santa Monica

Opening reception: Saturday, November 16, 4–6pm

Blum & Poe is pleased to present Sprawling, an installation of new drawings by Dave Muller.

The installation will consist of a panoramic view of Los Angeles during the day interspersed with images of iconic LA landmarks and other locales of particular importance to the artist . A great deal of Muller's work addresses issues of identity, primarily through the use of appropriation. However, as with his last exhibition at Blum & Poe, Sprawling presents the viewer with a vicarious portrait of the artist. Through the use of both well known monuments and obscure anti-monuments, this new body of work presents an autobiographical introspection mediated by the artist's surrounding environment.

Sprawling at Blum & Poe will also coincide with Dave Muller's one person show, Connections at the UCLA Hammer Museum. The show is organized by Amada Cruz, and will be on display from October 6, 2002 to January 5, 2003.
