Following an 18 month period of conservation, Lindisfarne Castle will re-open with a new major site-specific installation by internationally acclaimed artist, former Turner-prize nominated artist, Anya Gallaccio.

Gallaccio is known for her use of organic materials and site-specific installations. She plans to create a landscape of color using a combination of wooden structures, naturally dyed blankets, flowers, and plants. The colors will take their inspiration from garden designer, writer and artist Gertrude Jekyll's walled garden in the castle's grounds. The shades of the blankets will subtly change over time due to the sunlight shining through the windows of the castle.

The installation is a collaboration between the National Trust and Locus+, a Newcastle based visual arts commissioning agency that works with artists on the production and presentation of socially engaged, collaborative and temporary projects, primarily for non-gallery locations. It is delivered by the National Trust through Trust New Art and supported using public funding by Arts Council England and a donation from the Henry Moore Foundation.
