Coffee and Tea Ceremony with Acaye Kerunen
In celebration of the opening of A NI EE (I AM HERE), Ugandan artist Acaye Kerunen’s first solo presentation in the United States, Blum & Poe is pleased to present a series of coffee and tea ceremonies led by the artist on Saturday, July 1.
Following a greeting and a brief explanation of the background of the artisanal ritual of brewing, guests are invited to take off their shoes and take a seat inside Kerunen’s installation entitled Kendu, to contemplate, to drink, and to activate the senses. Guests are encouraged to spend twenty minutes inside Kendu to drink their coffee or tea, and to write their thoughts onto the walls. Artisanal coffee and tea from Uganda will be served in a traditional Jebena. This event is free and open to all. Registration is required to participate.
Limited parking available. Rideshare highly encouraged.
Please note this event will be filmed; by attending, participants and visitors consent to video and audio recording and its publication and reproduction.
