Live Film Score with Electro-acoustic Improvisations by Rabit and Maxwell Sterling
On the occasion of Linder's exhibition Sex-Pol at Blum & Poe Los Angeles, join us for a live film score of two films—Linder's A dream between waking and sleeping (2022) and Rabit's Angelica / Safe (2022)—performed by Rabit and Maxwell Sterling.
Linder’s A dream between waking and sleeping (2022) was commissioned by The Charleston Trust, home of the painters Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant. The film is the artist’s homage to the genre of the medieval dream vision—a belief that dreams are a place where truth is revealed and the divine encountered. Here, Linder interprets the landscape, history and mythology of Charleston.
Angelica / Safe (2022) is Rabit’s collaboration with Denver Bastion and Chicago-based performance art collective Suspended Culture, and features a soundtrack by Maxwell Sterling and Rabit.
With sound samples from a Tarot reading by Selah Saterstrom made in response to A dream between waking and sleeping. “...From within the membranous precincts between our multiple bodies in the larger rhizomic field of resonances, where much is sounding and also unsounded...”
These electro-acoustic improvisations will be recorded and released by Halcyon Veil, a Texas based collective, record label, and publishing house with the intent to disseminate fringe works of art of a Gay, Queer, and Trans nature. This event is free and open to all.

About Rabit
Rabit (Eric Burton) is a storyteller documenting the American South primarily through sound. His latest project, What Dreams May Come, is a collaborative multimedia record set for release on November 25, 2022. The project unfolds through a series of exhibitions, actions, performances, and album releases through 2022-23. Select collaborators include Björk, Arca, Elysia Crampton, House Of Kenzo, and Drew McDowall (Coil). Rabit has presented original music in venues such as CaixaForum, Barcelona, Spain; Laboral Theatre, Gijón, Spain; MoMA PS1, New York, NY; Center MARS, Moscow, Russia; Art Basel Miami Beach, Miami, FL; and Südpol, Luzern, Switzerland.
About Maxwell Sterling
Maxwell Sterling is a composer and musician, originally from Manchester. Sterling’s debut record Hollywood Medieval (Death of Rave, 2016) set out his fascination with the glitches between the traditions of acoustic and synthesized music. His album Turn of Phrase (AD93, 2021) takes inspiration from both Gregorian chants and hyper-modern digital processing and synthesis. In early 2022, he released an EP with Martha Skye Murphy, Distance on Ground (American Dreams, 2022): a tape comprised of two long tracks focusing on the immediacy of musical communication. Sterling continues to collaborate with others, working with the cult figure Leslie Winer, Poison Anna, Tai Shani, and many others.
About Halcyon Veil
Halcyon Veil is a Houston, Texas based collective, record label, and publishing house. Operating since 2015 and created by Rabit and Lane Stewart with the intent to disseminate fringe works of art of a Gay, Queer, and Trans nature, Halcyon Veil is also invested in a general return to Spirit and Nature. The Doorway to a Voice and a New Manifestation.
About Linder
Linder is a British artist who is internationally renowned for her photomontages, performances, and radical feminism. Her work has been exhibited widely, including by way of two traveling retrospectives: Linderism at Hatton Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK and Kettle’s Yard, Cambridge, UK (2020); and Femme/objet at Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, France and Kestnergesellschaft, Hannover, Germany (2013). Solo exhibitions include Chatsworth House, Derbyshire, UK (2018); Nottingham Contemporary, Nottingham, UK (2018); Art On The Underground, London, UK (2018); Glasgow Women's Library, Glasgow, Scotland (2018); Blum & Poe, Los Angeles, CA (2013); Tate St. Ives, Cornwall, UK (2013); Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead, UK (2007); and MoMA PS1, New York, NY (2007). In 2021, Linder’s work was presented in the Liverpool Biennial, Liverpool, UK. Her work has been documented in five dedicated monographs.
