Eddie Martinez: Drawings Trilogy
The Drawings Trilogy features all three volumes published by Triangle Books on the drawing practice of artist Eddie Martinez.
Drawings (2017) presents a wide selection of Eddie Martinez's drawing practice from 2005 up until the present. Many of them have never been seen before as they come deep from the artists archive. Going from figurative to abstraction and back again, Eddie Martinez has developed his personal vocabulary and iconography of recurring characters, shapes and mark making.
More Drawings (2020) documents over three hundred works from Eddie Martinez’s archive. With a selection ranging from 2005 to 2020, More Drawings presents a juxtaposed, achronological montage of the evolution of Martinez’s aesthetic and his indefatigable imagination.
Extra Drawings (2023) is an epic ride trough 18 years of Eddie Martinez's relentless drawing practice. Sleepers, birds, flowers, blockheads, Fran the dog, Nature morte, tabletops, buflies, mandalas, and Raid cans are some of the artist's recurring motifs, which take on a morphing journey throughout this new book. A conversation between Martinez and Claire Gilman, Chief Curator at the Drawing Center in New York, digs deeper into the intricacies of the artist’s fearless approach to the white page.
